Varicose Vein Treatment in Asheville, North Carolina

Minimally invasive varicose vein procedures provide you with safe and effective relief in Asheville, North Carolina.

Let Surgical Specialists of Carolina relieve you of the pain of varicose veins. After our thorough vein procedures, your uncomfortable and restless legs will just be a memory. We know many people still have misconceptions about varicose vein treatments. The old-school vein stripping techniques are no longer practiced. We now offer new, minimally invasive procedures that involve little to no pain and rapid recovery times. Plus, Dr. Jerimiah Mason has received special training in vein treatment and uses only the most modern techniques. Read about our leading-edge procedures below to find out how you can get out of pain by treating your venous insufficiency.

ClosureFastTM uses safe radiofrequency energy to give you great results.

Dr. Mason will make a tiny incision just below one of the main superficial veins in your legs, such as the great saphenous vein. He’ll then insert a thin catheter with a cylindrical heating element at the end. Once he’s inserted the catheter completely into the vein, Dr. Mason will use ultrasound guidance to slowly remove the catheter in sections, heating each section enough to sufficiently damage the vein’s cartilage. This will seal the vein, and your body will reroute your blood. With this main vein shut down, the varicose veins extending away from it will no longer be under pressure, causing them to shrink and restoring your leg’s appearance.

Using medical adhesive, VenaSealTM offers comprehensive results with minimal risk.

VenaSeal functions similar to ClosureFast, with one key difference. Rather than a heating element at the end of the catheter, VenaSeal has a small nozzle that allows Dr. Mason to administer medical adhesive through the length of your vein. There are vast benefits to choosing VenaSeal:

  • Fast procedure – Each vein takes only 20 minutes to treat, and you can address multiple veins in one session.
  • No compression stockings – Because the vein is sealed immediately, you don’t need to wear support stockings after treatment.
  • Rapid recovery – Get your VenaSeal procedure at lunch and go right back to work.
  • Single needle stick – No heat’s involved, so we only need to administer local anesthetic at the catheter insertion site.

Microphlebectomy finishes off severe varicose vein cases to give you the results you deserve.

If your veins are badly damaged and stretched out, sealing their main “feeder” vein shut (with one of the two procedures listed above) may not be enough to make your varicose veins completely disappear. Although about 95% of people see complete relief from ClosureFast or VenaSeal alone, we may need to perform a microphlebectomy to remove your lingering varicose veins. Through small pinholes, we’ll use a special tool to extract your still-problematic superficial veins. Microphlebectomies involve the following:

  • Local anesthesia
  • Minimal to no scarring
  • Excellent results
  • Very little blood loss
  • Only minor discomfort
